Job Requirements

  • physical fitness suitable for working on a sailing vessel
  • commitment to the full 6-day program
  • willingness to live in shared cabins and adapt to communal living
  • no fear of open water or seasickness
  • ability to follow safety protocols and instructions
  • fluency in English for communication onboard

Job Qualifications

  • strong interest in marine biology or environmental conservation
  • willingness to learn sailing and rigging techniques

  • effective communication and observational skills
  • adaptability to changing weather and living conditions at sea
  • previous experience in wildlife monitoring or research is a plus

Job Duties

  • monitor and record sightings of whales and dolphins
  • collect data on geographic position, group size, composition, and surface activity
  • perform acoustic recordings of marine mammal vocalizations
  • assist in tracking other marine species such as sea turtles, tuna, swordfish, mantas, moonfish, and marine birds
  • collaborate with team members during daily research activities
  • participate in sailing tasks including steering, hoisting, and striking sails
  • conserve energy and resources aboard while maintaining communal living standards
