Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in volunteer coordination or related field preferred
- Ability to work full-time in a warehouse environment
- Strong communication and leadership abilities
- Ability to manage groups of 10-30 volunteers
- Flexibility to adapt to changing environments
- Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion principles
- Ability to follow safety and food handling protocols
- Physical ability to participate in distribution center activities
- Willingness to work with distribution center equipment as needed
Job Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to speak in front of large groups daily
- Experience working in a team-centric and fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of safety and food handling standards
- Ability to manage priorities and resources efficiently
- Computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Willingness to learn to operate manual and power pallet jacks and forklifts
Job Duties
- Support volunteer groups of 10-30 in a warehouse setting
- Work as a part of a team to ensure a positive experience for all volunteers through proper support, instruction, and supervision throughout shift
- Coordinate and lead volunteer groups in volunteer welcome center, utilizing current Second Harvest talking points
- Greet individual volunteers as they arrive in the project rooms, providing overview of the scheduled project
- Collaborate with Volunteer Project Lead and Volunteer Program Manager to ensure proper messaging and stewardship of volunteers
- Promote and support a volunteer program that advances commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion
- Educate groups on the work and mission of Second Harvest Food Bank and encourage individuals to return as recurring volunteers
