South Bronx United (SBU) is a dynamic sports-based youth development organization committed to fostering social change through soccer. Established with a mission to empower youth in the South Bronx and surrounding communities, SBU prepares more than 1,800 young people annually for success in high school, college, careers, and active participation in their communities. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • experience effective in multi-cultural and cross-cultural settings
  • excellent interpersonal, mediation, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
  • ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • flexibility and adaptability
  • strong administrative, computer, and writing skills
  • familiarity with South Bronx or neighboring communities preferred

Job Duties

  • Recruit volunteers for organization's programs and activities
  • ensure volunteer positions are posted accurately and frequently on various platforms
  • attend volunteer fairs and recruitment events
  • build and maintain partnerships with colleges, high schools, and other institutions
  • build the SBU Volunteer Ambassador program on local college campuses
  • screen, interview, and place candidates in volunteer positions
  • utilize FormTitan and Salesforce to review and track volunteer applicants
  • collaborate with Volunteer Associate to meet screening and interview timelines
  • work with staff to place viable volunteer candidates
  • manage a full-time AmeriCorps member and oversee volunteer management
  • implement effective volunteer orientation and training sessions
  • strengthen volunteer feedback and ongoing training systems
  • conduct monthly site visits to support volunteers
  • provide professional support and recognition to volunteers
  • plan and implement volunteer appreciation and engagement events
  • develop consistent practices for recruitment, retention, recognition, and leadership development
  • collect, monitor, and analyze data related to volunteer practices
  • maintain volunteer database including attendance
  • track and interpret volunteer recruitment and retention statistics
  • provide regular data reports to leadership
