Job Requirements

  • Must pass the pre-employment background check
  • May be required to pass a drug test including marijuana
  • Must have a valid Oregon driver's license and meet the City of Salem's driving standards
  • Ability to work varied hours Monday through Saturday including some evenings and weekends
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Two years of progressively responsible experience pertinent to assignment
  • Ability to perform essential job functions
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to resolve conflicts
  • Knowledge of volunteer management software and databases

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Two years of progressively responsible experience relevant to the position
  • Experience working with older adults
  • Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
  • Knowledge of volunteer management techniques and best practices
  • Experience publishing program calendars
  • Experience leading volunteer trainings
  • Experience in networking and community outreach
  • Familiarity with technology applications including virtual meeting platforms, social media management, website maintenance, and database reporting
  • Bilingual Spanish skills preferred
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws related to programs preferred

Job Duties

  • Supervise the Outreach Volunteer Program
  • Work with volunteer program chairs to identify program needs and recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers
  • Provide oversight of volunteer-led hobby areas
  • Assist with special events and community projects
  • Lead trainings and participate in networking opportunities
  • Create monthly correspondence with volunteers
  • Track volunteer hours and outcomes
  • Maintain the Center's database, volunteer management software, and annual reporting
