Job Qualifications

  • High school graduate
  • Graduate of an accredited college or university preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in recruitment and management of volunteers preferred
  • Hospice or healthcare volunteer administration experience preferred
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with interdisciplinary teams and the public
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and email applications
  • Confident presentation skills with ability to address groups of various sizes and conduct one-on-one training

Job Duties

  • Recruit, select, train and coordinate hospice volunteers
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and ensure compliance with local, state and federal laws relating to volunteer recruitment, training and retention
  • Develop and promote volunteer programs collaborating with the interdisciplinary team and administration
  • Provide and monitor volunteers according to the Hospice patient’s Plan of Care
  • Promote agency philosophy to ensure quality of care
  • Establish a public relations program to foster good working relations with volunteers and the community
  • Actively recruit regularly to meet patient, community, facility and administrative needs
  • Meet deadlines for monthly reports including cost savings, renewable requirements, and retention/recruiting logs
  • Follow company, Medicare and state guidelines for training new volunteers and maintaining volunteer files
  • Review and process volunteer documentation timely and in compliance with regulations
  • Maintain volunteer hours in compliance with Medicare reimbursement requirements
  • Plan and coordinate Hospice Memorial Service
  • Perform duties outlined in Volunteer Coordinator Manual
  • Carry out tasks assigned by Executive Director or Regional Volunteer Program Manager
