Job Description

Southeast Conservation Corps (SECC) is a non-profit organization affiliated with AmeriCorps, dedicated to empowering young adults through community service and environmental stewardship across the Southeastern United States. Operating in partnership with the National Park Service, SECC specializes in facilitating conservation projects on public lands, aimed at fostering environmental awareness, stewardship, and community engagement. Job Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Has received a high school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • Agrees to provide information to establish eligibility and to complete a National Service Criminal History Check
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to safely drive an organizational vehicle
  • Ability to move across varied terrain
  • Ability to lift or move objects up to 25 pounds
  • Availability to serve approximately 40 hours per week including some evenings and weekends
  • Commitment to substance free environment
  • Personal vehicle for transportation due to limited public transit

Job Qualifications

  • United States citizen, United States national, or a lawful permanent resident alien
  • At least 18 years of age

Job Duties

  • Increase volunteerism by supporting the recruitment of new cadre of volunteers and assisting with the daily management of the volunteer program
  • Expand volunteer opportunities within the park
  • Conduct continual community outreach within the park and local communities during regularly scheduled programming, special events, national public service days, and through social media
  • Increase veteran outreach for volunteerism, especially given the strong connections and relevance for veterans and veterans groups to the military park and National Cemetery
  • Serve alongside the volunteer coordinator to overhaul and update the park's volunteer program
  • Provide meaningful stewardship opportunities
  • Collaborate with all park teams to identify and develop volunteer opportunities to support team and park-wide goals
  • Assist in the planning and preparation for each project, as well as leading volunteers during each event
  • Support the park's shift to using Volunteer.gov
  • Strengthen established park partnerships
  • Foster long-lasting relationships with the local communities
  • Report and discuss research and partner input with park team members
  • Update park's Volunteer.gov page
  • Add and manage new opportunities
  • Support the recruitment of new VIPS
  • Interview candidate, check reference, and support onboarding
  • Staff outreach events
  • Support relationship building with community groups
  • Strengthen and develop relationships with local volunteer groups
  • Assist with updating the park volunteer manual and park policy
  • Assist with updating the park website and developing volunteer-related social media
  • Collaborate with the coordinator to overhaul and manage the volunteer recognition program
  • Coordinate at least two volunteer recognition events
  • Track monthly hours
  • Develop needed reports

  • Support management of event volunteers
  • Serve with Volunteer Coordinator, other park staff, and Friends group to identify projects to support park needs
  • Serve with Friends group on recruitment, training, and paperwork related to projects
