The Armed Services YMCA of Hampton Roads is a dedicated nonprofit organization serving military members and their families in the Hampton Roads area. The ASYMCA offers a variety of programs and services aimed at supporting military families, enhancing their quality of life, and ensuring their well-being during deployments, relocations, and other military-related challenges. Job Requirements

- Experience in volunteer coordination or related field
- Ability to manage multiple volunteers and tasks simultaneously

Job Qualifications
- Experience in volunteer coordination or management
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and build relationships
- Ability to lead and guide volunteer teams and initiatives
- Ability to manage multiple volunteers, tasks, and schedules simultaneously
- Proficiency with database management and scheduling software preferred
- Familiarity with military culture or experience working with military families preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, social work, or related field is a plus
Job Duties
- Work with staff to identify needs and projects for volunteers/groups
- Create and schedule volunteer opportunities, develop recognition programs, and assist with organizing events and activities that require volunteers
- Provide website updates and content information for volunteer opportunities
- Actively recruit volunteers through various channels, conduct volunteer training, orientation and paperwork if necessary
- Match volunteers to suitable roles based on their skills, interests, and the organization's needs
- Supervise volunteers' activities, provide ongoing support, and address any issues that arise to ensure a productive and positive experience
- Maintain a comprehensive volunteer database
- Manage volunteer schedules and accurate records of volunteer hours and activities
- Serve as a liaison between volunteers and staff, keeping volunteers informed about opportunities
- Maintain and strengthen relations with volunteers through regular written and verbal, in person communication and engagement opportunities
- Provide volunteer contact information to development and marketing departments for continued engagement and communication
- Track volunteer contributions and evaluate the effectiveness of the volunteer program to ensure it meets organizational goals and provides a rewarding experience for volunteers
- Oversee requests and delivery of ASYMCA Lovies
- Raise awareness of the Operation Kid Comfort program through presentations to military Commands, family support groups and area ombudsmans
- Maintain records of recipients and number of Lovies distributed
- Collect testimonials from Kid Comfort families
