Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of 3 years related experience
- Ability to clearly communicate with staff and public
- Knowledgeable about shelter operations and the Fort Bend County community
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, social media, and graphics programs
- Ability to work with dogs and cats of all sizes and temperaments
- Bilingual preferred

- Experience in volunteer coordination and program development
- Bilingual skills preferred
Job Duties
- Actively recruits volunteers using various platforms including website, print media, community calendars, public speaking, and community events
- Researches and implements effective volunteer recruitment and retention strategies
- Trains, mentors, and serves as initial primary contact for all volunteers excluding fosters
- Prepares, schedules, and provides regular volunteer orientations with up-to-date materials
- Develops and maintains advanced volunteer programs and training for continual growth
- Coordinates with Kennel Supervisor and volunteers to ensure shelter animals receive enrichment activities daily
- Implements new volunteer programs to support staff and reduce program strain
- Keeps staff updated on volunteer program changes and provides training for staff on volunteer procedures
- Upholds the shelter’s values and mission during public and staff interactions
- Reports issues and solutions related to volunteer programs to management
- Tracks and reports volunteer data and prepares monthly volunteer program reports
- Manages volunteer database and social media, including the Volunteers Facebook page
- Creates and distributes monthly newsletters with updates and pertinent information to volunteers
- Mentors staff and senior volunteers to enhance volunteer engagement
- Works closely with Foster Coordinator ensuring cohesive volunteer management
- Acts as point person for events, delegating and managing schedules as needed
- Collaborates with Adoption, Rescue, and Transport Coordinators to secure reliable volunteers for transport duties
- Participates in emergency management activities as directed during local disasters
