Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in customer service and cash handling
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally
  • Moderate physical effort required including stamina for interacting with people for long periods
  • Availability for weekend and flexible scheduling including early mornings and evenings
  • FBI fingerprint results and Pennsylvania Child Abuse History and Criminal Record Checks required
  • Ability to maintain courteous and respectful communication with a diverse public
  • Basic knowledge of safety and emergency procedures
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Capability to operate computer software and handle monetary transactions accurately

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in customer service and cash handling
  • Experience working with children preferred
  • Outstanding organizational skills for managing cash register fiscal documentation and transactions
  • Rational judgment for interacting with children adults and people with special needs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with children adults and people with special needs
  • Tactful and professional communication with supervisors museum staff and guests
  • Critical thinking skills for decision making and problem solving at the admissions desk
  • Ability to learn sales software and Microsoft Office suite

Job Duties

  • Responsible for the daily operation of admissions desks including weekends and occasional early morning or evening events selling admission tickets gift cards and memberships as well as answering visitor questions and occasional parking customer service
  • Maintain proper working knowledge of all museum policies and procedures incorporating updates from management in a timely manner
  • Treat visitors with respect providing friendly and courteous communication and assist visitors by orienting them to the museum informing them of exhibit areas and programming
  • Review and assist in the revision of all manuals to maintain up-to-date training resources
  • Work with visitor services management to ensure quality performance and efficiency at the admissions desk including monitoring supplies ensuring announcements are set properly communicating guest issues and reporting staff concerns
  • Ensure cash and credit card receipts balance with sales on a daily basis
  • Use admissions software to perform monetary transactions and open close cash drawer procedures
  • Understand and perform emergency procedures including fire evacuation and accident reporting
  • Maintain communication with security and assist them in daily responsibilities
  • Follow safety and security procedures and use equipment and materials properly
  • Keep management informed of schedule changes and adhere to staff policies
  • Create a positive work environment working closely and respectfully with team members management and other staff
  • Cross train in the Little Orange Store to cover breaks or full shifts
  • Answer inbound phone calls route and return calls ensuring high level of customer service
  • Maintain sales database by data entry into reservation software program
