Job Requirements
- Pass a criminal background check
- Have a valid driver’s license
- Have access to reliable transportation
- Ability to meet schedule requirements including weekend and evening shifts
- Ability to work independently without direct supervision
- Ability to memorize and recite facts clearly and accurately
- Strong public speaking and communication skills
- Demonstrate dependability by arriving on time and being prepared
- Ability to conduct 1-2 hour walking tours and/or 1 hour driving tours
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Ability to navigate crowded work areas and manage a challenging workload
- Follow all Museum policies and safety procedures
- Maintain professionalism in appearance and behavior
Job Qualifications
- Highschool diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Minimum of two years attraction or hospitality experience
- One year experience in a leadership role
- Five years customer service experience
- Fluent in English
- Bilingual a plus
- Exceptional verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic computer skills including email and word processing
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals
Job Duties
- Model and uphold Kentucky Derby Museum Winning Service standards and behaviors during staff and guest interactions
- Communicate effectively with the Visitor Services leadership team regarding operations, scheduling, and personnel updates
- Operate the point-of-sale system and other Museum technologies and train team members in collaboration with management
- Learn and conduct all tours of Churchill Downs with enthusiasm for Kentucky Derby and Thoroughbred Racing history
- Collaborate to develop and update tour scripts and visitor programming
- Manage inventory of supplies for Front Desk and tours and maintain cleanliness and professionalism of all relevant areas
- Lead Front Desk team in welcoming visitors, processing admissions, handling phone inquiries, and oversee opening and closing procedures
- Coordinate with Events and Group Sales Team for smooth execution of group visits and special events
- Maintain internal memberships within ticketing and membership systems
- Serve as member of Visitor Services Leadership Team and support hiring, scheduling, and staff evaluations
- Work evening events and conduct After-Hours Tours as needed
