Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- supervisory experience in visitor services or related fields
- strong leadership and team management abilities
- experience in customer service or hospitality
- excellent verbal and written communication skills
- ability to analyze visitor data and trends
- proficiency in Microsoft Office
- experience with cultural institutions or arts organizations
- collaborative skills to work with multiple departments
- problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities
- sensitivity to cultural diversity and inclusion principles
- knowledge of best practices in visitor experience management
Job Duties
- manage welcome and ticketing operations for general admission, box office, and special events or exhibitions
- foster a positive and supportive team culture by setting clear goals, delegating tasks, establishing timelines, motivating staff, identifying training needs, and providing ongoing coaching
- address all team concerns with professionalism and resolve conflicts thoughtfully
- monitor team performance and coordinate opportunities for team-building and professional growth
- support hiring, on-boarding, training, and performance evaluations, including administering incentives and corrective action when needed
- ensure the team consistently monitors the condition, safety, and security of all public spaces
- lead daily briefings to keep the team updated and prepared
- collaborate with the Exhibitions team to support art stewardship and security needs
- develop and maintain front-line training programs, including materials that support visitors with diverse abilities
- partner with the Education department to ensure staff are informed on programs and visitor expectations
- participate in Exhibition and Development meetings to support planning, membership, and visitor engagement strategies
- recommend admissions policies and monitor visitor feedback
- recommend and implement workflow, staffing, technology, and budget enhancements to improve efficiency
- collaborate with internal departments to communicate public information
- work with the Director of Operations to support facility and security monitoring
- oversee cash-handling procedures
- lead reporting and analysis on attendance, retail performance, and trends
- manage department budget
- provide occasional support outside regular hours
- perform other duties as assigned
