Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years experience in serving upscale dining and nightlife venues
  • Flexible schedule with ability to work late hours
  • Responsible Alcohol Awareness Training Certification or equivalent
  • Ability to manage cocktail tray service and basic food service
  • Must be capable of handling intoxicated guests appropriately
  • Ability to lift or move up to 25 pounds using proper lifting techniques
  • Tolerance of diverse cultures, music and art forms

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years experience serving in upscale dining and nightlife venues
  • Working knowledge of cocktail tray service, basic food service, responsible alcohol service, drink recipes and garnishes, point of sales systems
  • Responsible Alcohol Awareness Training Certification or equivalent
  • Ability to deal with intoxicated guests positively and safely
  • Tolerance of all cultures, music and art forms
  • Cash handling experience preferred
  • Basic knowledge of wines, spirits and mixology preferred
  • Experience recognizing valid IDs preferred
  • Experience in live music environment preferred

Job Duties

  • Anticipate and respond to guests' needs
  • Strong working knowledge of all beverages
  • Answer guest questions, make recommendations, suggestively sell beverages and menu items
  • Take orders and communicate drink orders to bar through Point of Sales system
  • Deliver drinks, maneuvering trays through large crowds
  • Maintain line of sight and atmosphere control by circulating through work area throughout shift
  • Remove dirty glasses and dishes from tables including lifting and moving bus tubs up to 25 pounds
  • Keep tables clean and wiped
  • Clean spills, remove food, trash or other obstacles from floor using proper lifting techniques
  • Maintain House of Blues safety and sanitation standards
  • Follow housekeeping standards per HOB policy
  • Keep current on all standard operating procedures
  • Request identification from guests who appear under 30 years
  • Ensure responsible alcohol service per local laws and HOB policies
  • Recognize when guests are too intoxicated and refuse further service courteously, notifying manager
  • Receive and process payments including cash, credit cards, and Traveler's checks according to HOB policy
  • Process comp and void checks as per policy
  • Exhibit professional grooming standards
  • Attend pre-shift meetings conducted by Manager on Duty
  • Assist other servers and staff as needed
  • Understand and execute Bottle Service standards and procedures flawlessly
