Job Requirements

  • Associate degree in veterinary technology
  • Willingness to work four 10.5-hour shifts plus one Saturday morning per month during the school year
  • Ability to lift and handle up to 50 pounds
  • Strong passion for client service and continuous learning
  • Demonstrated ethical conduct and integrity
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Knowledge of animal behavior and handling techniques

Job Qualifications

  • Must have an associate degree in veterinary technology
  • Certification is preferred, not required
  • Willing to work four, 10.5 -hour shifts plus 1 out of 4 Saturday mornings during the school year
  • Be able to lift and handle up to 50 pounds
  • Be highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for service and continuous learning
  • Demonstrate commitment to ethics and integrity
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and strong organization, time management skills, with attention to detail
  • Have a strong understanding of animal behavior and handling techniques

Job Duties

  • Engaging and communicating with clients promoting education and preventative care
  • Assisting with patient history, restraint, charges, estimates and client education in the exam room
  • Monitoring patient conditions during treatments, procedures and hospitalization
  • Performing laboratory procedures and x-rays to assist in diagnosis and treatments
  • Preparing medications for both outpatient and inpatients
  • Administering anesthetics or sedatives to control pain under direction of a veterinarian
  • Preparing surgical equipment, including sterilization, and ensuring that the operating room is properly stocked, sterilized and ready for surgery
  • Spearheading dental health for companion animals by performing dental exams, x-rays and cleanings
  • Assisting the receptionists as needed and assume their duties during their absence
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned by management
