Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous customer service experience preferred
  • Experience in a veterinary environment is an advantage
  • Ability to work evening and Saturday shifts
  • Strong communication and multitasking skills
  • Computer literacy, including proficiency with multi-line phone systems
  • Ability to manage cash, credit, and check payments accurately
  • Must be able to handle stressful and emotional situations with professionalism
  • Must be able to work full-time, 30+ hours per week

Job Qualifications

  • Demonstrated commitment to MVP core values
  • Computer knowledge required, including keyboarding and use of email and internet
  • Working knowledge of veterinary terminology with accurate pronunciation and spelling
  • Excellent spelling and grammar skills
  • Ability to handle varied and sometimes difficult emotional conditions
  • Ability to display tact and respect with clients and team members
  • Ability to conduct oneself in a confident, calm, and professional manner during stressful situations
  • Genuine liking for animals and their owners and for working in an animal care field

Job Duties

  • Maintain and uphold the Core Values and Mission Statement of MVP
  • Greet clients and pets by name with a smile and a positive, solution-oriented attitude
  • Answer phones promptly and professionally using a multi-line phone system
  • Screen and route calls to appropriate staff
  • take and deliver messages promptly
  • Schedule appointments and surgeries according to hospital scheduling guidelines
  • Note details discussed during client conversations in medical records
  • Enter accurate charges and explain invoices
  • Collect payment when services are rendered
  • Verify eligibility of clients with charge accounts
  • Check and update client contact information
  • Fill prescription refill forms and provide routine administration instructions
  • Advise clients on flea/tick preventative, heartworm preventatives, pre-anesthetic testing, pain management, and retail items
