Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous customer service experience preferred
- Experience in a veterinary environment is an advantage
- Ability to work evening and Saturday shifts
- Strong communication and multitasking skills
- Computer literacy, including proficiency with multi-line phone systems
- Ability to manage cash, credit, and check payments accurately
- Must be able to handle stressful and emotional situations with professionalism
- Must be able to work full-time, 30+ hours per week
Job Qualifications
- Demonstrated commitment to MVP core values
- Computer knowledge required, including keyboarding and use of email and internet
- Working knowledge of veterinary terminology with accurate pronunciation and spelling
- Excellent spelling and grammar skills
- Ability to handle varied and sometimes difficult emotional conditions
- Ability to display tact and respect with clients and team members
- Ability to conduct oneself in a confident, calm, and professional manner during stressful situations
- Genuine liking for animals and their owners and for working in an animal care field
Job Duties
- Maintain and uphold the Core Values and Mission Statement of MVP
- Greet clients and pets by name with a smile and a positive, solution-oriented attitude
- Answer phones promptly and professionally using a multi-line phone system
- Screen and route calls to appropriate staff
- take and deliver messages promptly
- Schedule appointments and surgeries according to hospital scheduling guidelines
- Note details discussed during client conversations in medical records
- Enter accurate charges and explain invoices
- Collect payment when services are rendered
- Verify eligibility of clients with charge accounts
- Check and update client contact information
- Fill prescription refill forms and provide routine administration instructions
- Advise clients on flea/tick preventative, heartworm preventatives, pre-anesthetic testing, pain management, and retail items
