Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience in a veterinary receptionist or customer service role preferred
- Ability to work flexible schedules including days, evenings, some weekends, and some holidays
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic computer proficiency
- Ability to multitask and manage stressful situations
- Must be comfortable interacting with animals and their owners
Job Qualifications
- Demonstrated commitment to MPH core values
- Computer knowledge including keyboarding and use of communication tools such as e-mail and internet
- Working knowledge of veterinary terminology with ability to pronounce, spell, and understand terms
- Excellent spelling and grammar
- Ability to handle varied and sometimes difficult conditions
- Ability to display tact and respect with clients and team members
- Ability to conduct oneself in a confident, calm, and professional manner under stress
- Genuine liking for animals and their owners and commitment to animal care field
Job Duties
- Maintain and uphold the Core Values and Mission Statement of MPH
- Greet clients and pets by name with a smile and a positive, solution-oriented attitude
- Answer phones promptly and professionally using a multi-line phone system
- Schedule appointments and surgeries according to hospital scheduling guidelines
- Note in medical records the details discussed during client conversations
- Enter accurate charges and explain invoices
- Collect payment and process credit cards and cash
- Verify eligibility of clients with charge accounts
- Check and update client contact information and medical records
- Fill prescription refill forms and provide routine administration instructions
- Advise clients on preventative care products
- Support veterinarians, technicians, veterinary assistants, groomers, and kennel staff in daily patient and client care
