Job Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Prior experience in a veterinary receptionist or customer service role preferred
Ability to work flexible schedules including days, evenings, some weekends, and some holidays
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Basic computer proficiency
Ability to multitask and manage stressful situations
Must be comfortable interacting with animals and their owners

Job Qualifications

Demonstrated commitment to MPH core values
Computer knowledge including keyboarding and use of communication tools such as e-mail and internet
Working knowledge of veterinary terminology with ability to pronounce, spell, and understand terms
Excellent spelling and grammar
Ability to handle varied and sometimes difficult conditions
Ability to display tact and respect with clients and team members
Ability to conduct oneself in a confident, calm, and professional manner under stress
Genuine liking for animals and their owners and commitment to animal care field

Job Duties

Maintain and uphold the Core Values and Mission Statement of MPH
Greet clients and pets by name with a smile and a positive, solution-oriented attitude
Answer phones promptly and professionally using a multi-line phone system
Schedule appointments and surgeries according to hospital scheduling guidelines
Note in medical records the details discussed during client conversations
Enter accurate charges and explain invoices
Collect payment and process credit cards and cash
Verify eligibility of clients with charge accounts
Check and update client contact information and medical records
Fill prescription refill forms and provide routine administration instructions
Advise clients on preventative care products
Support veterinarians, technicians, veterinary assistants, groomers, and kennel staff in daily patient and client care
