Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in a veterinary receptionist or customer service role preferred
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including days, evenings, some weekends, and some holidays
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Ability to multitask and manage stressful situations
  • Must be comfortable interacting with animals and their owners

Job Qualifications

  • Demonstrated commitment to MPH core values
  • Computer knowledge including keyboarding and use of communication tools such as e-mail and internet
  • Working knowledge of veterinary terminology with ability to pronounce, spell, and understand terms
  • Excellent spelling and grammar
  • Ability to handle varied and sometimes difficult conditions
  • Ability to display tact and respect with clients and team members
  • Ability to conduct oneself in a confident, calm, and professional manner under stress
  • Genuine liking for animals and their owners and commitment to animal care field

Job Duties

  • Maintain and uphold the Core Values and Mission Statement of MPH
  • Greet clients and pets by name with a smile and a positive, solution-oriented attitude
  • Answer phones promptly and professionally using a multi-line phone system
  • Schedule appointments and surgeries according to hospital scheduling guidelines
  • Note in medical records the details discussed during client conversations
  • Enter accurate charges and explain invoices
  • Collect payment and process credit cards and cash
  • Verify eligibility of clients with charge accounts
  • Check and update client contact information and medical records
  • Fill prescription refill forms and provide routine administration instructions
  • Advise clients on preventative care products
  • Support veterinarians, technicians, veterinary assistants, groomers, and kennel staff in daily patient and client care
