Job Qualifications
- Demonstrated commitment to Mayfair Animal Hospital core values
- Computer knowledge including keyboarding and use of communication tools such as email and internet
- Working knowledge of veterinary terminology with ability to pronounce, spell, and understand terms
- Excellent spelling and grammar skills
- Ability to handle varied and sometimes difficult emotional situations
- Ability to display tact and respect with clients and team members even when busy
- Ability to conduct oneself in a confident, calm, and professional manner in stressful or focused situations
- Genuine liking for animals and their owners and enthusiasm for working in animal care
Job Duties
- Greet clients and pets by name with a smile and a positive, solution-oriented attitude
- Answer phones promptly and professionally using a multi-line phone system
- Screen and route calls to appropriate staff and take and deliver messages promptly
- Schedule appointments and surgeries according to hospital scheduling guidelines and make confirmation calls
- Note in medical records details discussed during client conversations including date, time, key points and required information
- Enter accurate charges and explain invoices showing value for care provided
- Collect payment for services including cash, credit cards, and check verification
- Verify client eligibility with charge accounts
- Check medical and computer records for accuracy and scan new documents to patient records
- Fill prescriptions refill forms and provide routine administration instructions to clients
- Advise clients on flea/tick and heartworm preventatives, pre-anesthetic testing, pain management, and retail products
