Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a veterinary or customer service reception role preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in computer use and office equipment
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule including weekends
  • Comfortable working with animals and in a veterinary environment

Job Qualifications

  • Demonstrated commitment to MPH core values
  • Computer knowledge including keyboarding and use of communication tools such as email and internet
  • Working knowledge of veterinary terminology including pronunciation, spelling, and meaning
  • Excellent spelling and grammar
  • Ability to handle varied and sometimes difficult conditions, including exposure to highly emotional situations
  • Ability to display tact and respect with clients and team members
  • Ability to conduct oneself in a confident, calm, and professional manner
  • Genuine liking for animals and their owners and for working in an animal care field

Job Duties

  • Greet clients and pets by name with a smile and a positive, solution-oriented attitude
  • Answer phones promptly and professionally using a multi-line phone system
  • Schedule appointments and surgeries according to hospital scheduling guidelines
  • Collect payment when services are rendered, including making change and processing credit cards
  • Verify the eligibility of clients with charge accounts
  • Check medical and computer records for accurate client contact information
  • Advise clients on flea/tick preventatives, heartworm preventatives, and other retail items
