Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in a veterinary or customer service reception role preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in computer use and office equipment
- Ability to multitask and work under pressure
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule including weekends
- Comfortable working with animals and in a veterinary environment
Job Qualifications
- Demonstrated commitment to MPH core values
- Computer knowledge including keyboarding and use of communication tools such as email and internet
- Working knowledge of veterinary terminology including pronunciation, spelling, and meaning
- Excellent spelling and grammar
- Ability to handle varied and sometimes difficult conditions, including exposure to highly emotional situations
- Ability to display tact and respect with clients and team members
- Ability to conduct oneself in a confident, calm, and professional manner
- Genuine liking for animals and their owners and for working in an animal care field
Job Duties
- Greet clients and pets by name with a smile and a positive, solution-oriented attitude
- Answer phones promptly and professionally using a multi-line phone system
- Schedule appointments and surgeries according to hospital scheduling guidelines
- Collect payment when services are rendered, including making change and processing credit cards
- Verify the eligibility of clients with charge accounts
- Check medical and computer records for accurate client contact information
- Advise clients on flea/tick preventatives, heartworm preventatives, and other retail items
