Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • previous experience in a veterinary or customer service role preferred
  • availability to work 30 or more hours per week including Saturdays from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm
  • strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • proficiency with multi-line phone systems and computer software
  • ability to multitask and handle stressful situations
  • commitment to providing excellent client service
  • reliable and punctual
  • capable of handling payment processing accurately

Job Qualifications

  • Demonstrated commitment to MPH core values
  • computer knowledge including keyboarding and use of communication tools such as email and internet
  • working knowledge of veterinary terminology with ability to pronounce, spell, and understand terms
  • excellent spelling and grammar skills
  • ability to handle varied and difficult emotional situations tactfully and respectfully
  • ability to conduct oneself confidently, calmly, and professionally under stressful conditions
  • genuine liking for animals and their owners and passion for animal care field

Job Duties

  • Maintain and uphold the core values and mission of MPH
  • greet clients and pets by name with a positive, solution-oriented attitude
  • answer phones promptly and professionally, answering client inquiries about animal care and veterinary services
  • screen and route calls to appropriate staff and take/deliver messages promptly
  • schedule appointments and surgeries according to hospital guidelines and confirm with clients
  • accurately note client conversations in medical records
  • enter accurate charges and explain invoices
  • collect payments including cash, credit cards, and checks
  • verify eligibility of clients with charge accounts
  • check and update client contact information
  • scan new documents to patient records
  • fill prescription refill forms and provide administration instructions
  • advise clients on flea/tick and heartworm preventatives and other retail products
