Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • prior experience in a customer service or receptionist role preferred
  • availability to work full-time including Saturdays from 8:00am-1:00pm
  • strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • ability to multi-task and manage time efficiently
  • basic computer literacy and familiarity with scheduling software
  • ability to handle cash and process payments accurately
  • must be able to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
  • must feel comfortable working in an environment with animals

Job Qualifications

  • Demonstrated commitment to MPH core values
  • computer knowledge required including keyboarding and use of communication tools such as email and internet
  • working knowledge of veterinary terminology with ability to pronounce, spell, and know the meaning
  • excellent spelling and grammar
  • ability to handle varied and sometimes difficult conditions including exposure to highly emotional situations
  • ability to display tact and respect with clients and team members even when busy or hectic
  • ability to conduct oneself in a confident, calm, and professional manner in stressful situations
  • genuine liking for animals and their owners and for working in an animal care field

Job Duties

  • Maintain and uphold the Core Values and Mission Statement of MPH
  • greet clients and pets by name with a smile and a positive, solution-oriented attitude
  • answer phones promptly and professionally using a multi-line phone system
  • screen and route calls to appropriate staff
  • schedule appointments and surgeries according to hospital scheduling guidelines
  • note in medical records the details discussed during client conversations
  • enter accurate charges and explain invoices
  • collect payment including processing credit cards and making change for cash payments
  • verify the eligibility of clients with charge accounts
  • check medical and computer records for accurate client information
  • fill prescriptions refill forms and provide routine administration instructions
  • advise clients on flea/tick preventatives, heartworm preventatives, and other retail items
