Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- prior experience in a customer service or receptionist role preferred
- availability to work full-time including Saturdays from 8:00am-1:00pm
- strong communication and interpersonal skills
- ability to multi-task and manage time efficiently
- basic computer literacy and familiarity with scheduling software
- ability to handle cash and process payments accurately
- must be able to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
- must feel comfortable working in an environment with animals
Job Qualifications
- Demonstrated commitment to MPH core values
- computer knowledge required including keyboarding and use of communication tools such as email and internet
- working knowledge of veterinary terminology with ability to pronounce, spell, and know the meaning
- excellent spelling and grammar
- ability to handle varied and sometimes difficult conditions including exposure to highly emotional situations
- ability to display tact and respect with clients and team members even when busy or hectic
- ability to conduct oneself in a confident, calm, and professional manner in stressful situations
- genuine liking for animals and their owners and for working in an animal care field
Job Duties
- Maintain and uphold the Core Values and Mission Statement of MPH
- greet clients and pets by name with a smile and a positive, solution-oriented attitude
- answer phones promptly and professionally using a multi-line phone system
- screen and route calls to appropriate staff
- schedule appointments and surgeries according to hospital scheduling guidelines
- note in medical records the details discussed during client conversations
- enter accurate charges and explain invoices
- collect payment including processing credit cards and making change for cash payments
- verify the eligibility of clients with charge accounts
- check medical and computer records for accurate client information
- fill prescriptions refill forms and provide routine administration instructions
- advise clients on flea/tick preventatives, heartworm preventatives, and other retail items
