Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • previous experience in a customer service role preferred
  • proficiency in computer use and multi-line phone systems
  • strong verbal and written communication skills
  • ability to multitask efficiently
  • ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
  • willingness to work afternoon shifts and some weekends
  • genuine interest in animal care and welfare

Job Qualifications

  • Demonstrated commitment to MPH core values
  • computer knowledge required including keyboarding and communication tools such as email and internet
  • working knowledge of veterinary terminology with ability to pronounce, spell, and understand terms
  • excellent spelling and grammar
  • ability to handle varied and emotional situations
  • ability to display tact and respect with clients and team members
  • ability to conduct oneself confidently, calmly, and professionally in stressful or task-focused situations
  • genuine liking for animals and their owners and for working in animal care

Job Duties

  • Maintain and uphold the Core Values and Mission Statement of MPH
  • greet clients and pets by name with a smile and a positive, solution-oriented attitude
  • answer phones promptly and professionally using a multi-line phone system
  • screen and route calls to appropriate staff
  • schedule appointments and surgeries according to hospital scheduling guidelines
  • note details in medical records during client conversations
  • enter accurate charges and explain invoices
  • collect payment including cash, credit card, and checks
  • verify eligibility of clients with charge accounts
  • check medical and computer records for accuracy
  • fill prescriptions refill forms and provide routine administration instructions
  • advise clients on flea/tick preventative, heartworm preventatives, pre-anesthetic testing, pain management, shampoos, home dental products, and other retail items
