Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- previous experience in a customer service role preferred
- proficiency in computer use and multi-line phone systems
- strong verbal and written communication skills
- ability to multitask efficiently
- ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
- willingness to work afternoon shifts and some weekends
- genuine interest in animal care and welfare

- Demonstrated commitment to MPH core values
- computer knowledge required including keyboarding and communication tools such as email and internet
- working knowledge of veterinary terminology with ability to pronounce, spell, and understand terms
- excellent spelling and grammar
- ability to handle varied and emotional situations
- ability to display tact and respect with clients and team members
- ability to conduct oneself confidently, calmly, and professionally in stressful or task-focused situations
- genuine liking for animals and their owners and for working in animal care
Job Duties
- Maintain and uphold the Core Values and Mission Statement of MPH
- greet clients and pets by name with a smile and a positive, solution-oriented attitude
- answer phones promptly and professionally using a multi-line phone system
- screen and route calls to appropriate staff
- schedule appointments and surgeries according to hospital scheduling guidelines
- note details in medical records during client conversations
- enter accurate charges and explain invoices
- collect payment including cash, credit card, and checks
- verify eligibility of clients with charge accounts
- check medical and computer records for accuracy
- fill prescriptions refill forms and provide routine administration instructions
- advise clients on flea/tick preventative, heartworm preventatives, pre-anesthetic testing, pain management, shampoos, home dental products, and other retail items
