Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • previous experience in a customer service or receptionist role preferred
  • proficiency in computer systems and multi-line phone systems
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • ability to multitask and manage payment transactions
  • strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations
  • must be willing to participate in on-camera interviews and assessments for identity verification
  • commitment to uphold the clinic's core values and mission
  • availability to work full-time

Job Qualifications

  • Demonstrated commitment to MPH core values
  • computer knowledge including keyboarding and use of email and internet communication tools
  • working knowledge of veterinary terminology with the ability to pronounce, spell, and understand the meaning
  • excellent spelling and grammar
  • ability to handle varied and sometimes difficult conditions, including highly emotional situations
  • ability to display tact and respect with clients and team members even in busy or hectic environments
  • ability to conduct oneself confidently, calmly, and professionally under stress
  • genuine liking for animals and their owners
  • enthusiasm for working in an animal care field

Job Duties

  • Maintain and uphold the core values and mission statement of MPH
  • greet clients and pets by name with a smile and a positive, solution-oriented attitude
  • answer phones promptly and professionally using a multi-line phone system
  • answer client inquiries about basic animal care and veterinary services
  • screen and route calls to appropriate staff and take messages promptly
  • schedule appointments and surgeries according to hospital guidelines
  • note details discussed during client conversations in medical records
  • enter accurate charges and explain invoices
  • collect payment including cash, credit cards, and checks
  • verify eligibility of clients with charge accounts
  • check and update medical and computer records
  • fill prescription refill forms and provide routine administration instructions
  • advise clients on flea/tick preventatives, heartworm preventatives, pre-anesthetic testing, pain management, shampoos, home dental products, and retail items
