Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in customer service or client-facing roles preferred
  • Ability to multitask and manage time effectively
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with computer systems and software
  • Knowledge of veterinary terminology
  • Ability to handle payment processing and financial transactions
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule including Saturdays
  • Ability to remain composed and professional in emotionally charged situations

Job Qualifications

  • Demonstrated commitment to core values
  • Computer knowledge required including keyboarding and use of communication tools such as email and internet
  • Working knowledge of veterinary terminology with the ability to pronounce, spell, and understand terms
  • Excellent spelling and grammar
  • Ability to handle varied and sometimes difficult conditions including exposure to highly emotional situations
  • Ability to display tact and respect with clients and team members even during busy or hectic periods
  • Ability to conduct oneself in a confident, calm, and professional manner during stressful or task-focused situations
  • Genuine liking for animals and their owners and a passion for working in an animal care field

Job Duties

  • Maintain and uphold the Core Values and Mission Statement of the hospital
  • Greet clients and pets by name with a smile and a positive, solution-oriented attitude
  • Answer phones promptly and professionally using a multi-line phone system
  • Schedule appointments and surgeries according to hospital scheduling guidelines and make surgery and appointment confirmation calls
  • Enter accurate charges and explain invoices to show value for care provided
  • Collect payment when services are rendered including making change for cash payments and processing credit cards
  • Verify eligibility of clients with charge accounts and check medical and computer records for accuracy
