Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in customer service or veterinary setting preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Ability to multitask and handle stressful situations
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Must be able to work full-time (30+ hours per week)

  • Computer knowledge including keyboarding and use of communication tools (email/internet)
  • Working knowledge of veterinary terminology including pronunciation, spelling, and meaning
  • Excellent spelling and grammar
  • Ability to handle varied and difficult conditions
  • Ability to display tact and respect with clients and team members
  • Ability to conduct oneself in a confident, calm, and professional manner in stressful situations
  • Genuine liking for animals and their owners and for working in animal care

Job Duties

  • Maintain and uphold the core values and mission statement of MPH
  • Greet clients and pets by name with a smile and a positive, solution-oriented attitude
  • Answer phones promptly and professionally using a multi-line phone system
  • Screen and route calls to appropriate staff and take and deliver messages promptly
  • Schedule appointments and surgeries according to hospital scheduling guidelines and make confirmation calls
  • Note in medical records details discussed during client conversations including date, time, and key points
  • Enter accurate charges and explain invoices
  • Collect payment including cash, credit cards, and checks
  • Verify the eligibility of clients with charge accounts
  • Check client records for accuracy and scan new documents
  • Fill prescription refill forms and provide routine administration instructions
  • Advise clients on flea/tick preventatives, heartworm preventatives, pre-anesthetic testing, pain management, shampoos, home dental products, and retail items
