Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in customer service or reception preferred
- Basic computer literacy
- Familiarity with veterinary terminology is a plus
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to multitask effectively
- Friendly and professional demeanor
- Availability to work Monday through Saturday, 8 am to 6 pm
- Ability to handle stressful and emotional situations with tact and professionalism
Job Qualifications
- Demonstrated commitment to MPH core values
- Computer knowledge including keyboarding and use of communication tools such as email and internet
- Working knowledge of veterinary terminology with ability to pronounce, spell, and understand meanings
- Excellent spelling and grammar skills
- Ability to handle varied and sometimes difficult conditions
- Ability to display tact and respect with clients and team members even when busy or hectic
- Ability to conduct oneself in a confident, calm, and professional manner in stressful or focused situations
- Genuine liking for animals and their owners
- Passion for working in an animal care field
Job Duties
- Maintain and uphold the Core Values and Mission Statement of MPH
- Greet clients and pets by name with a smile and a positive, solution-oriented attitude
- Answer phones promptly and professionally using a multi-line phone system
- Screen and route calls to appropriate staff
- take and deliver messages promptly
- Schedule appointments and surgeries according to hospital scheduling guidelines
- Note in medical records the details discussed during client conversations
- Enter accurate charges and explain invoices showing value for care provided
- Collect payment when services are rendered, including cash, credit cards, and checks
- Verify the eligibility of clients with charge accounts
- Check medical and computer records for accurate client information
- Fill prescription refill forms and provide routine administration instructions
- Advise clients on flea/tick preventative, heartworm preventatives, pre-anesthetic testing, pain management, shampoos, home dental products, and other retail items
