Job Requirements
- Certified veterinary practice manager (CVPM) or equivalent experience
- Minimum 1-year management experience or 3+ years veterinary experience
- Strong organizational and computer skills
- Excellent leadership and communication abilities
- Ability to manage personnel fairly and effectively
- Knowledge of veterinary hospital procedures and terminology
- Flexibility in work hours and availability
- Commitment to continuous professional development
Job Qualifications
- Experienced or certified veterinary practice manager (CVPM) preferred
- Minimum 1-year management experience or 3+ years veterinary experience preferred
- Highly organized with computer skills
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to work well with all team members
- Ability to make fair and just personnel recommendations
- Knowledge of hospital procedures and veterinary terminology
- Knowledge of English language structure and grammar
- Open availability with flexibility
- Self-starter with desire to advance knowledge and skills
Job Duties
- Make informal recommendations to regional manager concerning staffing needs and personnel matters
- Direct on-the-job training to develop employee skills and prepare appraisals
- Recruit, hire, onboard, and terminate staff members as needed
- Market the hospital to prospective customers and veterinary community
- Resolve informal employee complaints and maintain communication
- Obtain information from pet owners for records and scheduling
- Address and resolve pet owners’ complaints promptly
- Prepare employee work schedules and manage office staff
- Answer telephone calls professionally
- Establish and maintain inventory control system
- Manage and implement hospital policies including DEA/Controlled Substances and OSHA
- Ensure accurate and timely payroll submission
- Establish good relationships with vendors
- Notify veterinary staff of emergency cases promptly
- Perform other duties as assigned
