Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- two years of specialized technical courses in automotive and truck mechanics
- more than three years and up to five years of journeyman level vehicle repair experience
- valid Colorado driver’s license
- commercial driver’s license with P2S endorsements
- ability to pass criminal background check
- ability to drive a school bus as required
- must own tools
- ability to respond to after-hours service calls
- capability to operate diagnostic and repair equipment
- knowledge of safety procedures
- good communication skills
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent

- more than three years and up to five years of journeyman level repair experience including buses
- valid Colorado driver’s license
- commercial driver’s license with P2S endorsements
- criminal background check required for hire
- knowledge of diesel emission systems including DPF and SCR
- ability to use welding and shop equipment
- strong oral and written communication skills
- interpersonal and customer service skills
- critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- knowledge of automotive trade practices, electrical and mechanical systems
- ability to read, understand and write reports
- familiarity with safety rules and procedures
- ability to manage multiple priorities and stressful situations

Job Duties
- Follows prescribed preventative maintenance procedures on all vehicles
- performs services and repairs on school buses and other vehicles including diesel engines, injectors, pumps, transmission systems, wheelchair lifts, air brake systems and electrical systems
- assists in vehicle maintenance and diagnosis as per safety policies
- conducts Colorado Department of Education inspections on buses
- operates service truck and responds to breakdown service calls
- troubleshoots and programs computer-controlled engine systems
- orders parts and documents vehicle repairs
- drives and road tests vehicles to ensure proper functioning
- performs small body and fender repairs and spray-painting
- drives school bus as needed
- participates in continuing education training
- responds to calls after regular hours as necessary
- promotes safety and maintains positive working relationships with staff
- operates various diagnostic and repair tools and equipment
- ensures compliance with traffic and safety regulations
