Job Requirements

  • Must have and be able to maintain a valid driver's license
  • Must meet insurance standards and maintain insurability
  • Must be 21 years of age at time of hire
  • Experience with computerized data entry systems preferred
  • Ability to meet prescribed physical standards including lifting 26-50 lbs and maneuvering wheelchairs
  • Familiarity with borough urban and rural roads
  • Must complete minimum of 40 hours training with Van Tran Division
  • Must have or obtain DOT Medical Examiners Certificate within 90 days
  • Must undergo criminal background check and fingerprinting
  • Must pass drug and alcohol testing prior to and during employment

Job Qualifications

  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to meet insurance standards and maintain insurability
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Experience with computerized data entry preferred
  • Ability to meet physical job demands including lifting and maneuvering wheelchairs
  • Familiarity with local urban and rural roads
  • Ability to obtain DOT Medical Examiners Certificate within 90 days
  • Demonstrated knowledge of passenger van operation and wheelchair transfers
  • Ability to perform routine cleaning and snow removal
  • Experience with two-way radio preferred
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to complete and record passenger data accurately

Job Duties

  • Operate an 11-passenger van with wheelchair lift under arctic conditions
  • Perform vehicle inspections before and after shifts
  • Maintain route schedules and designated pick-up stops
  • Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking, including those in wheelchairs
  • Collect fares and complete necessary documentation
  • Provide excellent customer service and door-to-door assistance
  • Perform minor janitorial duties including snow removal
  • Fill in for Customer Service Representative as scheduled
