Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • three to twelve months related experience and or training
  • valid Connecticut driver’s license in good standing
  • ability to secure a CT Public Service License within 90 days of hire
  • ability to complete basic forms and communicate effectively
  • ability to follow set schedules
  • ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions
  • ability to assist with the physical mobility needs of passengers including lifting and moving up to 50 pounds
  • ability to perform duties in various weather conditions

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • three to twelve months related experience and or training
  • ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and memos
  • ability to complete basic forms such as incident reports
  • effective communication skills
  • ability to follow set schedules
  • ability to apply common sense understanding
  • valid Connecticut driver’s license in good standing
  • ability to secure a CT Public Service License within 90 days
  • ability to obtain approved certification in physical or psychological management training
  • CPR and first aid certification

Job Duties

  • Conduct pre and post-trip inspections on agency owned or leased vehicles
  • document inspections and mileage and submit reports
  • drive vehicle according to assigned schedule
  • assist passengers into and out of vehicle
  • assess physical environment of service locations and report safety hazards
  • secure passengers wheelchairs to restraining devices
  • ensure proper use of safety equipment
  • operate communication devices to report disruptions
  • clean and service vehicles
  • keep records of trips and passenger behavior
  • perform delivery of interoffice mail
  • clean vehicles after inclement weather
  • assist with vehicle preparation for inclement weather
  • perform other duties as required
