Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum one year experience in a healthcare setting
  • Preferably experience in maternal/child care units
  • Ability to perform physical tasks related to cleaning and patient transport
  • Ability to adhere to infection control and safety standards
  • Effective communication skills
  • Availability to work full-time night shifts

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • One year of experience within healthcare environment
  • Preferably experience within maternal/child units
  • Knowledge of hospital safety and sanitation protocols
  • Ability to follow established policies and procedures
  • Basic communication skills for effective coordination with nursing and supervisory staff

Job Duties

  • Cleans patient rooms after vaginal deliveries, separating/removing waste as per policy
  • Cleans operating rooms after each case and performs terminal cleaning as per policy
  • Transports specimens using specimen logbook in a timely manner
  • Transports and discharges patients in a timely manner
  • Adheres to standard precautions in daily activities
  • Cleans wheelchairs after each patient use
  • Passes and picks up meal trays as requested
  • Monitors use of cleaning supplies and advises supervisor on reordering needs
  • Maintains linen cart organized, neat, and covered
  • Maintains cleanliness of patient pantry areas, lounges, restrooms, call rooms, and offices daily
  • Follows infant abduction prevention program and bereavement policy
  • Transports bodies to the morgue and logs it
  • Takes blood specimens as needed
  • Supports emergencies by being available for specimen collection or supply procurement
  • Checks formula expiration dates and removes expired formula
  • Monitors and maintains supplies for handwashing and notifies nurse of low par levels
  • Cleans incubators and radiant warmers as per policy
  • Maintains cleanliness of patient areas including breast pump rooms
  • Monitors par levels of blankets and gowns and coordinates with linen services
  • Completes additional related tasks as required
