Job Requirements
- high school diploma or ged
- less than 1 year clinical experience in acute care setting preferred
- ability to read, write and speak the English language
- strong customer service and interpersonal skills
- ability to collaborate with other health care providers in the provision of patient care
- ability to multi-task
- ability to function in stressful and emergency situations
- strong detail orientation
- basic computer skills
- ability to enter information into an electronic medical record
- basic medical terminology knowledge

Job Duties
- perform clerical and receptionist functions including computer order entry and retrieval of data
- maintain unit supplies and transport supplies, equipment and patient medications
- prepare and maintain patient charts
- provide excellent customer service and act as the central communication source on the nursing unit
- participate in hourly patient rounding and proactively offer assistance and comfort measures to patients and families
- facilitate patient admission, transfer and discharge processes and track bed activity
- support healthcare team initiatives, participate in interdisciplinary rounds, perform charge reconciliation and unit audits
- use effective communication skills to liaise between patients, families, healthcare providers and diagnostic areas
- maintain safety and infection control protocols and operate cleaning equipment as assigned
