Job Requirements
- High school diploma plus specialized training (6 months-2 years)
- Entry level experience
- Completion of Health Unit Coordinator program is preferred
- Proficiency in use of personal computers
- Knowledge of medical terminology

Job Duties
- Acts as a receptionist and performs general clerical duties
- Prepares, updates and maintains patient charts
- Transcribes physician orders
- Assists with processing admissions, transfers and discharge papers
- Schedules treatments and tests
- Maintains needed supplies
- Serves as a resource for physicians, staff, patients and visitors regarding hospital activities and policies
- Assists in orientations and training of new staff and student clinical rotations
- Ensures complete charts are sent to appropriate areas for transfers and discharges
- Knowledge of locating, entering or correcting orders or other information in MIS
