Job Duties

  • Partner with health care team, patient and family to provide excellent customer service
  • Protect the rights and dignity of patients at all times
  • Build relationships with patients' families
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information
  • Participate in hourly patient rounding
  • Maintain paper medical records and scan documents into electronic medical records
  • Resolve patient concerns
  • Offer assistance and comfort measures proactively
  • Present self positively and professionally showing sensitivity to others
  • Answer telephone calls and patient call lights, communicate patient needs
  • Facilitate patient admission, transfer, and discharge
  • Track bed activity and notify housekeeping of patient discharges
  • Assist in unit flow management during emergencies
  • Request patient escort when appropriate
  • Facilitate patient direct admission
  • Monitor data entry for patient safety information
  • Support health care team initiatives
  • Participate in interdisciplinary rounds as scribe
  • Perform charge reconciliation
  • Notify nurse on physician arrival
  • Conduct audits as requested
  • Perform staffing reconciliation
  • Complete and submit supply requisitions, accept and stock deliveries
  • Place orders for durable medical equipment
  • Engage in unit performance improvement initiatives
  • Support professional nursing practice through governance and evidence-based practice
  • Transport supplies, medications, and equipment
  • Practice accountability
  • Use effective communication skills with patients, staff, physicians, and visitors
  • Utilize safety communication techniques
  • Place physician and ancillary consults
  • Maintain and report on IT equipment status
  • Act as liaison between patients and diagnostic areas
  • Serve as unit electronic documentation super user
  • Facilitate data recovery during downtime
  • Communicate patient care concerns to RN
  • Use positive and respectful communication
  • Provide a safe environment and follow infection control policies
  • Operate Xenex disinfection machines
  • Perform environment of care rounds
  • Comply with Wellstar policies, standards, and code of conduct
  • Perform other duties as assigned
