Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience or training in medical terminology
  • Proficiency with computers
  • Clerical receptionist experience preferred
  • Knowledge of Meditech or similar systems preferred
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Customer service orientation required

Job Duties

  • Perform clerical tasks appropriate to clinical practice
  • Direct and coordinate nurse’s station activities
  • Maintain safe and therapeutic milieu for behavioral health patients
  • Manage patient records electronically and in hard copy
  • Assist with order entry and data retrieval
  • Greet and assist patients, visitors, and staff
  • Answer telephones and communicate effectively
  • Participate in maintaining accurate medical records and patient data
  • Ensure Medicare forms are signed prior to discharge
  • Transport and escort patients within the hospital
  • Respond promptly to patient call systems
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and respect patients’ rights
  • Keep nurses’ station clean and organized
  • Support staff and maintain cooperative working relationships
  • Monitor unit inventory and report supply issues
  • Report maintenance needs and ensure completion
  • Maintain a safe environment for patients and staff
