Job Duties

  • Abides by and enforces all compliance requirements and policies
  • adheres to hospital policies including confidentiality
  • participates in the evaluation of environmental and safety issues and intervenes appropriately
  • assists with orientation of new employees as assigned
  • responds to call lights and promptly relays information to nursing personnel
  • processes requests and orders during computer downtime
  • utilizes Hospital Information Systems for various administrative tasks
  • replenishes chart stationary
  • serves as receptionist and answers telephone promptly
  • performs general clerical duties and prepares unit admission packs
  • monitors patients' charts for signed MD orders
  • communicates effectively with physicians, patients, families and healthcare team
  • notifies Charge Nurse when leaving unit
  • maintains accurate and complete records
  • updates kardex and completes orders using fax
  • performs chart reduction and prepares charts for Medical Records upon discharge
  • participates in Performance Improvement activities and committees
  • adheres to Infection Control and Safety Standards
  • processes laboratory samples promptly
  • enters patient charges daily
  • maintains neat and organized unit desk
  • runs errands to support unit needs
  • participates in all mandatory unit, educational and hospital requirements
  • maintains regular and prompt attendance
  • works defined schedule and overtime as required
  • related duties as assigned
