Job Description
Union Gospel Mission (UGM) is a faith-based organization committed to serving the poor, homeless, drug-addicted, and mentally ill populations within the community. UGM operates several ministries including Trent, Camp, and Spokane Enterprises that provide vital services ranging from shelter and rehabilitation to community outreach and engagement. Job Requirements
- Personal relationship with Jesus Christ and adherence to UGM Statement of Faith and Core Values
- Willingness to participate in ministry activities including Bible study and sharing the Gospel
- Minimum of three years of sobriety if applicable
- Valid Washington or Idaho driver’s license
- Yearly TB clearance
- Criminal background check clearance
- Ability to work occasional nights and weekends
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and emotional variables effectively
- Computer literacy including Microsoft Office and CRM software
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to lift and move 10-25 lbs frequently
- Physical ability to navigate multiple facility levels including stairs
- Demonstrate servant-leadership and respect for chain of command
- Commitment to UGM’s mission and ministry objectives
Job Qualifications
- Committed Christian with personal relationship with Jesus Christ
- Willingness to lead and participate in Bible study, prayer, and ministry activities
- Minimum three years of sobriety if in recovery
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Skilled in conflict resolution
- Ability to use Microsoft 365, Word, Excel, Outlook, CRM software (Virtuous, Virtuous Volunteers), and HR software (UKG Ready)
- Excellent verbal, written, and instructional communication skills
- Self-starter with minimal oversight required
- Ability to work individually and as part of a team
- Teachable spirit with decision-making aligned with UGM’s mission
- Valid Washington or Idaho driver’s license
- Must meet yearly TB clearance and pass criminal background check
- Compassionate, trustworthy, honest, reliable, and models appropriate boundaries
- Demonstrated leadership and collaboration skills
- Experience with event coordination and volunteer management
Job Duties
- Provide monthly volunteer orientation class with tours of facility
- Conduct volunteer interviews, background checks, volunteer references and spiritual assessments within a 2-week time-period
- Manage volunteer placement and order name badges upon completion of interview process
- Complete 30- and 60-day volunteer assessments
- Meet with department heads to assess volunteer needs
- Resolve conflicts involving volunteers and staff using conflict resolution techniques
- Utilize Virtuous and Virtuous Volunteers CRM to record volunteer activity
- Maintain volunteer ministry statistics monthly and yearly
- Communicate relevant information to volunteers through CRM
- Support Trent, Camp, and Spokane events and the Annual Gathering
- Attend staff meetings and UGM staff retreat
- Provide monthly reports to Director of Community Engagement
- Respond to emails and phone calls within 24 hours
- Participate in development meetings as assigned
- Submit receipts and invoices timely
- Adhere to HR and organizational policies
- Manage internal and assigned special events
- Coordinate setup and teardown of events
- Supervise hospitality closet maintenance
- Promote UGM awareness through events
- Provide strong and qualified volunteers for events
- Collaborate with kitchen team on food-related events
- Champion and model the High Impact Model of Volunteerism
- Provide community volunteer opportunities
- Cast vision related to volunteer engagement
- Equip and utilize volunteers for purposeful service
- Support promotion of volunteers to Associate Staff positions
- Organize Volunteer Appreciation efforts
- Coordinate community service groups and church groups
- Assist Ministry Advancement Coordinator as needed
- Complete quarterly volunteer scorecards
- Require occasional nights and weekends work
- Model servant-leadership and collaboration as per UGM standards
- Plan and execute regular volunteer orientations
- Coordinate volunteer engagement and training
- Support development team and donor journey
- Plan and execute volunteer appreciation and engagement tours
- Participate in ongoing strategic planning and improvement efforts
