Job Requirements
- 5+ years of work experience operating UAS commercially, preferably in infrastructure inspection, utilities or similar environment
- Valid FAA Remote Pilot Certificate (Part 107) or equivalent regulatory certification for commercial UAS operations
- Demonstrable experience flying UAS in challenging field conditions including remote terrain, energized lines/towers, and variable weather
- Proficiency with UAS flight planning software including waypoints and automated missions
- Strong situational awareness with attention to detail in flight operations and data capture
- Basic knowledge of electrical infrastructure such as transmission towers, poles, substations and associated hazards
- Good interpersonal and communication skills able to work with field teams, site managers, and engineers
- Ability to comply with FAA regulations and company safety procedures during UAS operations
Job Qualifications
- 5+ years of commercial UAS operating experience preferably in infrastructure inspection or utilities
- Valid FAA Remote Pilot Certificate (Part 107) or equivalent regulatory certification
- Recognized subject-matter expert in UAS inspections in electrical infrastructure domain
- Experience flying in challenging field conditions including remote terrain and variable weather
- Proficiency with UAS flight planning software and data capture workflows
- Basic knowledge of electrical infrastructure and associated hazards preferred
- Strong situational awareness, spatial and hand-eye coordination
- Good interpersonal and communication skills for collaboration and reporting
Job Duties
- Lead mission planning for complex inspection operations including risk assessments, airspace coordination, emergency procedures, and launch/recovery zone planning
- Pilot advanced UAS platforms and payloads including BVLOS operations under regulatory policy
- Oversee pre-flight inspections and operational readiness verifying systems and safety checklists
- Conduct high-quality data capture for inspection of electrical infrastructure detecting anomalies
- Lead post-flight data processing and prepare detailed inspection reports
- Drive decision-making collaborating with engineers on maintenance prioritization and asset management
- Manage and maintain UAS fleet including maintenance schedules, upgrades, and budget planning
- Train, mentor, and certify junior pilots developing training curriculum and ensuring compliance
- Develop and refine operational SOPs, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance frameworks
- Represent the UAS inspection program to stakeholders communicating findings and safety performance
- Operate sUAS to inspect electrical infrastructure complying with FAA Part 107 and project plans
- Plan and execute aerial missions across varied terrain including rural, mountainous, and urban environments
- Maintain detailed flight logs, mission reports, and equipment maintenance records
- Manage data upload, storage, and transfer for integration with inspection workflows
- Coordinate with field inspectors, management, and safety personnel optimizing field efficiency and compliance
- Collaborate with inspection teams to schedule missions and ensure safe launch and recovery zones
- Stay current with UAS technologies, sensor payloads, and regulatory changes
- Comply with airspace authorizations, waiver requirements, and local flight restrictions
- Perform other related duties as assigned
