Job Requirements
- Required to pass a Physical Agility Obstacle course of various firefighting skills
- high school diploma
- have a current driver's license
- meet position certifications IAW DOD 6055.06-M
- have DOD, Pro-Board or ISAC certifications including Munitions Fire Fighting course, Emergency Medical Responder (EMR), Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Apparatus Driver Operator - Aerial, Apparatus Driver Operator - Mobile Water Supply, Apparatus Driver Operator - Pumper, Apparatus Driver Operator - Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting, Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) Operations, Airport Firefighter, Firefighter II
- 3+ years firefighting experience in organized fire protection services with at least 2 years in aircraft crash, fire, and rescue operations
- working knowledge of fire suppression, rescue, emergency incident techniques, operation of fire equipment, water distribution and supply
- working knowledge of aircraft fuel propellants, oxidizers, and weapons
- ability to work in physically demanding and hazardous conditions
- ability to wear safety equipment weighing up to 50 lbs
- willingness to participate in mandatory physical fitness programs
- ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

- hold DOD, Pro-Board or ISAC certifications including Munitions Fire Fighting course, Emergency Medical Responder (EMR), Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Apparatus Driver Operator - Aerial, Apparatus Driver Operator - Mobile Water Supply, Apparatus Driver Operator - Pumper, Apparatus Driver Operator - Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting, Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) Operations, Airport Firefighter, and Firefighter II
- possess 3+ years firefighting experience in an organized fire protection function providing fire suppression services with at least two years in aircraft crash, fire, and rescue services
- have working knowledge of fire suppression, rescue, emergency incident techniques, operation of fire equipment, water distribution and supply
- understand characteristics of aircraft fuel propellants, oxidizers, and weapons
- preferred certification Telecommunicator I/II.
Job Duties
- Safely operate fire department apparatus driving in both emergency and non-emergency response conditions
- perform hazard and risk assessment techniques in completing initial incident analysis
- drive and operate firefighting vehicles such as pumpers, Quint ladder trucks, Mobile Water Supply and Airport Rescue Fire Fighting vehicles
- perform crash-rescue and structural firefighting duties for a variety of facilities and high-risk fire scenarios
- perform rescue of personnel and provide first aid measures to alleviate injury and prepare victims for transport
- maintain firefighting equipment and fire station facilities
- respond to fire alarms and combat fires requiring a full range of firefighting tasks
- perform operational checks and maintenance on fire department apparatus and equipment
- respond to on-site accidents and emergencies providing Emergency Medical Responder care and non-invasive emergency procedures
- perform work at airfields handling various types of aircraft with high fire and crash potential
- perform pre-fire planning by physically inspecting structures to evaluate fire hazards and protection systems
- comply with health, safety, and environmental rules
- participate in mandatory physical fitness programs
- use all required safety equipment and clothing
- work under adverse environmental conditions including participation in respiratory protection and hearing conservation programs
- discern colors, contrast, and depth
- may work in the Fire Alarm Communications Center as a certified relief dispatcher
- apply knowledge of hazardous materials emergency response
- operate firefighting vehicles and equipment including hydraulics principles
- apply knowledge of building design, aircraft design, and emergency first aid techniques
- operate communications equipment
- maintain good working relations and communication skills.
