Job Requirements

  • Certification as FAA CFI, CFII, MEI (if not United Aviate Pathway participant)
  • Medical Class 3
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a flight instructor
  • Minimum 2 years of leadership experience
  • Extensive knowledge of 14 CFR and FSIMS 8900
  • Ability to work full-time including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Strong communication skills
  • Customer service orientation
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and aviation scheduling systems
  • Commitment to safety and ethical compliance
  • Ability to maintain accurate training records and student progress reports

Job Qualifications

  • United Aviate Pathway participation preferred but not required
  • 1+ years experience as a flight instructor
  • 2+ years experience in a leadership role
  • Extensive understanding of 14 CFR, FSIMS 8900, and other regulations pertaining to aviation
  • FAA CFI, CFII, MEI certifications if not in United Aviate Pathway
  • Medical Class 3 certification
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (Aviation or Business Administration)
  • Gold Seal CFI, Master CFI or equivalent certifications preferred
  • Excellent listening, oral and written communication skills
  • Customer service oriented
  • Strong problem solving and analysis skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and aviation scheduling systems
  • Knowledge of aviation regulations, policies, procedures, and best practices
  • Knowledge of United Airlines policies, procedures, and standards
  • Ability to think strategically and translate concepts into actionable items
  • Courage to make key decisions and advise leadership with professionalism and poise
  • Comfortable working in ambiguous situations
  • Strong ability to use data and analytics to make key decisions and identify actions for best results
  • Ability to build strong partnerships across business areas, operations, standards, safety, student services, and United Airlines

  • Outstanding attention to detail, organizational skills, valuing compliance and ethical behavior, governance and controls, and adhering to company and financial policies

Job Duties

  • Maintain student training records in accordance with 14 CFR Part 141 and United Aviate Academy policies
  • Maintain training standards as set forth by FAA regulations and United Aviate policies
  • Ensure that course standards, training requirements and objectives are met by all assigned students as required by the Training Course Outline
  • Report on student progress and accurately maintain and update all appropriate records
  • Recommend and develop curriculum and courseware improvements when appropriate
  • Maintain a safe, caring, dependable and efficient culture with students, fellow instructors, and staff
  • Perform other related duties and assignments as required
  • Must be able to work full-time, nights, weekends, and holiday schedules
