Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • eight to ten years related experience and/or training
  • 2000 hours as a pilot
  • 1000 hours as pilot-in-command
  • 250 hours cross country time
  • 250 hours at night un-aided
  • knowledge of and experience with Night Vision Goggles preferred
  • FAA Commercial Helicopter license with instrument rating
  • FAA Class 2 Medical certificate
  • physical ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • ability to work in outdoor environments under varying conditions
  • strong vision and hearing capabilities
  • ability to comply with flight time restrictions and rest requirements
  • ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical manuals and aviation regulations
  • comfortable with word processing, spreadsheet and internet software

  • ability to read and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and governmental regulations

Job Duties

  • Report directly to the Chief Pilot or Lead Pilot
  • ensure safe conduct of assigned flights
  • exercise final authority in aircraft operation
  • comply with all relevant federal, state, local and foreign regulations and company policies
  • provide excellent customer service
  • perform preflight inspections before each departure
  • brief passengers in accordance with 14 CFR 135.117
  • conduct flights according to 14 CFR 135 or 91
  • check applicable NOTAMs and weather conditions for departure, enroute, destination and alternates
  • prepare appropriate flight plans
  • ensure aircraft cleanliness and readiness
  • verify aircraft airworthiness, registration and documentation
  • review and calculate weight, balance, fuel, oxygen and performance data
  • utilize checklists and standard operating procedures
  • make decisions on flight delays, cancellations or route deviations
  • notify authorities of accidents, unlawful interference or unexpected landings
  • complete post-flight duties including log and reports
  • refuse transportation if safety risk is identified
  • maintain currency and qualification requirements
  • assist with cleaning of aircraft and work areas
