Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • minimum of three years’ experience in event or venue management
  • demonstrated leadership and staff supervision skills
  • knowledge of safety protocols and emergency procedures
  • strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • ability to work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • valid driver’s license
  • ability to pass background checks and drug screening
  • physical ability to perform event setup and inspections
  • proficiency in computer applications including budgeting and scheduling software

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in event management, hospitality, business administration, or related field preferred
  • prior experience in event or venue management
  • strong leadership and supervisory skills
  • excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to event and venue operations
  • financial acumen for budgeting and invoicing
  • ability to coordinate multiple tasks and work under pressure
  • proficiency with event management software and Microsoft Office
  • experience in safety management and emergency response
  • proven ability to build partnerships and work collaboratively with diverse groups
  • marketing and public relations experience
  • flexibility to work non-standard hours including nights, weekends, and holidays

Job Duties

  • Manage and operate the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater and city-hosted events
  • coordinate with consultants, vendors, subcontractors, and city staff
  • ensure compliance with safety and public regulations
  • supervise, direct, and evaluate assigned staff
  • prepare and monitor venue and event budgets
  • coordinate rental agreements and resource allocation
  • manage event logistics including setup and breakdown
  • develop and implement recruitment and training programs for staff
  • act as liaison between city, vendors, artists, and the public
  • oversee event day operations and serve as incident commander when needed
  • maintain accurate records, contracts, and invoices
  • organize city-sponsored events as assigned
  • collaborate with local colleges and universities for internship and partnership programs
  • conduct post-event evaluations and incident reviews
  • manage marketing and promotional activities for the venue and events
  • maintain positive vendor relations and resolve issues
  • assist with capital improvement planning and facility maintenance
  • uphold emergency preparedness and weather-related protocols
  • respond to patron and community inquiries
  • work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • ensure continuous improvement of venue services and operations
