Job Requirements
- Ability to perform pre and post trip safety checks
- Knowledge of and compliance with DOT regulations
- Ability to operate tractor-trailer and straight truck safely
- Strong communication skills to interact professionally with customers, vendors, and co-workers
- Accuracy and attention to detail when completing freight paperwork
- Physical ability to lift products ranging between 10-35 pounds and up to 60-90 pounds
- Ability to work early morning shifts from Monday to Friday
- Valid CDL-A and meet state licensing requirements
- Clean motor vehicle record
- Pass required road tests
- Maintain current or obtain DOT Health Card
Job Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
- 12+ months tractor/trailer driving experience
- Valid CDL-A license
- Must be 21+ years of age
- Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
- Clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for past 3 years
- Pass road test
- Attains or has valid current DOT Health Card or able to secure new DOT Health Card
- Able to hand-lift and utilize equipment to move and stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shift
Job Duties
- Performs all required safety checks including pre and post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations
- Inspects tractor/truck and trailer to ensure they meet company safety standards and take appropriate action as needed
- Reports all safety issues and/or repairs required
- Follows all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
- Immediately reports all safety hazards
- Inspects trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
- Performs count check of items and checks customer invoices of products that have been loaded
- Checks and completes all required paperwork accurately and legibly associated with freight
- Moves tractor to the loading dock and attaches the preloaded trailer as needed
- Drives to and delivers customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule
- Unloads products from the trailer, transports items into designated customer storage areas
- Performs damage control checks on items, scans, and contacts supervisor about removing orders according to company policy
- Verifies delivery of items with customer and obtains proper signatures
- Collects money where required
- Loads customer returns onto trailer and secures trailer doors
- Ensures tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and secured
- Unloads damaged goods and customer returns and completes necessary paperwork
- Performs general housekeeping duties in tractor and loading dock area
- Completes daily record of hours of service and enters in log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements
- Performs other related duties as assigned
