Job Requirements
- Valid California Class C driver’s license
- clean motor vehicle driving record meeting District’s safe driving standards
- ability to operate forklift if certified
- capability to perform physical loading and unloading duties
- ability to communicate effectively with site personnel
- must be available for assigned routes and unscheduled trips
- willingness to comply with District policies and procedures
- ability to maintain records and reports accurately
Job Qualifications
- Valid California Class C driver’s license
- forklift certification may be required within six months of employment
- ability to operate dollies, pallet jacks, liftgates and forklifts
- effective communication skills
- ability to maintain accurate records
- physical capability to load and unload freight
- experience driving delivery or service vehicles
- knowledge of safe driving practices
- capability to perform vehicle inspections and maintenance tasks
Job Duties
- Drive a District vehicle on a daily assigned route or unscheduled trips
- pick up and deliver food, supplies, furniture, mail and equipment
- transport freight in a safe, timely and efficient manner
- load and unload incoming and outgoing freight
- inspect loads for proper placement and securing on trucks
- open and secure entrances to District sites and school campuses
- place food commodities, supplies, equipment and furniture in specified areas at various sites
- load and unload food carts
- rotate perishable stock and pick up empty food crates and containers
- maintain records and reports such as daily mileage reports, driver manifests, vehicle safety inspections and equipment and supply transfers
- maintain vehicles in a clean and safe condition
- wash vehicles
- conduct required daily pre and post trip safety inspections
- refuel and check fluid levels
- operate equipment including dollies, electric and manual pallet jacks, liftgates, and forklifts
- communicate with site personnel regarding pick up and delivery of orders
- assist in resolving shipping errors and related discrepancies
- respond to emergency service requests
- provide work direction and guidance to other staff
- inform appropriate personnel of routes needing updating or revising
- sort and shelve stock
- assist with periodic inventories
