Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from accredited program in occupational safety and health, engineering, or related field
- Minimum of eight years related construction safety experience or equivalent
- Construction Health Safety Technician (CHST) certification required or within two years
- OSHA 30-hour training completed
- Current First Aid, CPR, BBP, and AED certifications maintained
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental health and safety regulations
- Ability to identify safety exposures and lead corrective actions
- Familiarity with general construction operations
- Excellent leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities
- High attention to detail
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Willingness and ability to travel 50 to 100 percent
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in occupational safety and health, engineering, or related field
- Minimum of eight years construction safety experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Construction Health Safety Technician (CHST) certification required or within two years of appointment
- Completed OSHA 30-hour training
- Current First Aid, CPR, Bloodborne Pathogens (BBP), and AED certifications
- Knowledgeable of federal, state, and local environmental health and safety regulations
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail
- Analytical thinking and complex problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with general construction operations
Job Duties
- Lead, direct, and enforce environmental health and safety on a single construction project
- Manage time and resource allocation and provide safety leadership to assigned project
- Assess project safety practices and exposures, develop and implement action plans to mitigate risks
- Communicate requirements for improving performance to project leadership and team
- Develop training for project site-specific needs and conduct safe work practices training
- Promote safe work practices and conditions in compliance with company and regulatory policies
- Maintain and enhance working relationships with project staff and subcontractor safety representatives
- Develop and enforce project safety program and policies
- Identify unsafe actions and conditions and implement immediate corrective actions
- Develop accountability model for project team ensuring pre-planning for subcontractor activities
- Review subcontractor safety programs for compliance
- Hold preconstruction planning meetings to review safety programs and hazard analyses
- Develop safety action items and verify subcontractor training compliance with OSHA standards
- Conduct orientation programs for new employees
- Collaborate with project leadership to create safety reports and assess metrics
- Ensure timely log of subcontractors' toolbox safety meetings
- Conduct and review safety audits and enforce corrective actions
- Perform other duties as assigned
