Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent GED preferred
  • Proven experience in food preparation and culinary supervision
  • Food safety certification such as Serve Safe
  • Ability to work varied event-driven schedules including nights and weekends
  • Physical capability for extended standing, lifting and repetitive tasks
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Capability to train and mentor kitchen staff
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Ability to adapt to fast-paced and changing environments
  • Must be able to accept or decline assignments but fulfill accepted shifts
  • Professional presentation and self-direction

Job Duties

  • Supervises all line set-up, prep and breakdown activities
  • Responsible for in-service delegation of tasks to line personnel
  • Assists Executive Chef with kitchen record keeping and administrative requirements including food inventories and ordering
  • Organizes employee work schedules ensuring appropriate coverage
  • Measures, mixes and cooks ingredients according to recipes
  • Uses a variety of pots, pans, knives and other equipment to prepare and serve food
  • Maintains a clean kitchen and food production areas
  • Trains, mentors and promotes a positive workplace environment among kitchen staff
  • Monitors food production to ensure quality, consistency, portion control and timing
  • Ensures all food safety standards are followed
  • Communicates with supervisors, peers and subordinates
  • Makes decisions, solves problems and prioritizes work
  • Documents and records all personnel discipline and works with HR on related issues
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Executive Chef
