Job Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist First Assistant
- proficiency in cardiovascular surgical procedures and general surgery required
- BLS certification required
- UAP certification required
- license required if applicable
- 2 current professional references required: 1 from a supervisor within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and 1 from a peer or supervisor in the specialty within the last 3 years
- all certifications must be active at time of consideration - no pending certifications accepted
- candidates with a permanent address within 80 miles of the facility are not eligible for this position
Job Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist First Assistant
- proficiency in cardiovascular surgical procedures and general surgery
- basic life support (BLS) certification
- unlicensed assistive personnel (UAP) certification
- license if applicable
- 2 current professional references including 1 from a supervisor within the last 12 months and 1 from a peer or supervisor in the specialty within the last 3 years
- active certifications with no pending credentials
Job Duties
- Assist surgeons during cardiovascular surgical procedures such as CABG, angiograms, and valve replacements
- support general, orthopedic, OB/GYN, urology, ENT, and plastic surgery procedures
- maintain a 1:1 surgical assistant-to-patient ratio
- chart patient care and surgical details using the Epic EMR system
- utilize specialized surgical equipment including Covidien cauteries and Stryker laparoscopic towers
- participate in a one-week orientation with a preceptor
- fulfill weekly weekday call shifts and one weekend call shift every four weeks
