Job Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship or U.S. national
  • Minimum age of 18 at time of application
  • Selective Service registration required if applicable
  • Must pass background check including criminal and credit checks
  • Subject to random drug and alcohol testing
  • Availability to work various shifts and overtime
  • Proficiency in English including reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension
  • Must meet physical requirements such as lifting 50 pounds and walking up to 3 miles during shifts
  • Must have resided in the U.S. for 3 of the last 5 years
  • Occasional travel required for training
  • Exposure to potentially hazardous materials inherent to the position

Job Qualifications

  • At least one year of full-time work experience in the security industry, aviation screening, or as an X-ray technician
  • High school diploma or equivalent such as GED, HiSET, or TASC
  • Experience credited based on a 40-hour workweek
  • Volunteer or national service experience considered
  • Ability to pass a structured interview, drug screening, medical evaluation, and background investigation

Job Duties

  • Operating screening equipment and technology to detect dangerous objects
  • Performing passenger and baggage searches including physical pat-downs
  • Controlling entry and exit points within the terminal
  • Interacting with the public by providing directions and answering inquiries
  • Maintaining focus and composure in stressful environments
  • Applying risk-based security screening protocols
  • Retaining and implementing knowledge of Standard Operating Procedures
