Job Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or U.S. national
  • Minimum age of 18 years at time of application
  • Registration with Selective Service if applicable
  • Must pass structured interview, drug screening, medical evaluation, and background investigation
  • Subject to random drug and/or alcohol testing
  • Must be available to work various shifts and overtime as needed
  • Proficiency in English
  • Mandatory travel for training may be required
  • Exposure to potentially lethal devices and dangerous chemicals is inherent
  • Must meet physical demands including ability to lift 50 pounds and stand for prolonged periods
  • Residency within the U.S. for three of the past five years required
  • Compliance with TSA PPE policy
  • Adherence to TSA dress and appearance standards
  • No relocation expenses paid
  • Must complete required training and certification
  • Must pass background checks including credit and criminal
  • Willingness to work part-time or full-time shifts
  • Must serve a basic trial period if entering without time limitations

Job Qualifications

  • At least one year of full-time work experience in the security industry, aviation screening, or as an X-ray technician
  • OR High school diploma, GED, HiSET, or TASC equivalency certificate
  • Proficient in English reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension
  • Ability to meet physical agility and stamina requirements
  • Ability to work various shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to pass background and drug screening
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for training
  • Ability to adapt to and implement new information and changes
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills

Job Duties

  • Operating screening equipment to identify dangerous objects in baggage, cargo, and on passengers
  • Performing physical searches and screening such as pat-downs and property inspections
  • Conducting baggage searches and lifting/carrying bags up to 50 pounds
  • Controlling terminal entry and exit points to secure the airport environment
  • Interacting with the public by providing directions and responding to inquiries
  • Maintaining focus and situational awareness in stressful environments
  • Engaging in continuous development of critical thinking to mitigate security threats
  • Retaining and implementing Standard Operating Procedures
