Job Requirements
- must be a u.s. citizen or national
- minimum age of 18 at time of application
- selective service registration required
- must pass structured interview, drug screening, medical evaluation, and background investigation
- subject to random drug and/or alcohol testing
- must be available for various shifts and overtime
- proficient in english
- must undergo occasional travel for training
- exposure to potentially lethal devices and dangerous chemicals
- meet and maintain physical fitness standards including ability to squat, bend, lift 50 pounds repeatedly, walk up to three miles, and stand up to 4 hours continuously
Job Qualifications
- at least one year of full-time work experience in the security industry, aviation screening, or as an x-ray technician
- or high school diploma, GED, HiSET, or TASC high school equivalency certificate
- proficiency in English including reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension
- ability to pass background investigation, drug screening, and medical evaluation including physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for prolonged periods
- selective service registration for males
- availability to work various shifts and overtime as needed
- adherence to TSA dress and appearance standards
Job Duties
- operating screening equipment to identify dangerous objects in baggage and on passengers
- performing physical searches including pat-downs and bag searches
- controlling terminal entry and exit points
- interacting with the public to give directions and respond to inquiries
- maintaining focus and awareness in stressful environments
- applying critical thinking skills to mitigate security threats
- implementing standard operating procedures and adapting to new challenges
