Job Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship or U.S. national
  • Minimum age of 18 at application
  • Selective Service registration required
  • Pass structured interview
  • Pass drug screening
  • Pass medical evaluation including color vision, hearing, vision, joint mobility
  • Pass background investigation
  • Subject to random post-employment drug and/or alcohol testing
  • Available to work various shifts and overtime
  • Proficient in English
  • Mandatory training travel, typically 3 to 6 weeks
  • Exposure to potentially lethal devices and dangerous chemicals
  • Maintain physical agility including ability to squat and bend
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing approximately 50 pounds
  • Ability to walk up to three miles and stand for prolonged periods
  • No relocation or moving expenses
  • Must adhere to TSA dress and appearance standards
  • Ability to work full-time or part-time shifts including irregular hours and split shifts

Job Qualifications

  • At least one year of full-time work experience in the security industry, aviation screening, or as an X-ray technician
  • Or have a high school diploma, GED, HiSET, or TASC high school equivalency certificate
  • Ability to pass structured interview, drug screening, medical evaluation including vision and hearing exams
  • Must be proficient in English including reading, writing, speaking and comprehension
  • Ability to work various shifts and overtime as needed
  • Must meet and maintain physical requirements including lifting up to 50 pounds, standing long periods, and walking up to three miles
  • Must have resided within the United States for three of the last five years prior to application
  • Experience with volunteer work or national service considered relevant

Job Duties

  • Operate various screening equipment and technology to identify dangerous objects in baggage, cargo and on passengers
  • Perform searches and screening including pat-downs, search of property, conducting bag searches and lifting/carrying items up to 50 pounds
  • Control terminal entry and exit points
  • Interact with the public by giving directions and responding to inquiries
  • Maintain focus and awareness in a stressful environment with distractions and potential confrontations
  • Engage in continuous development of critical thinking skills to mitigate security threats
  • Implement knowledge of Standard Operating Procedures demonstrating responsible and adaptable behavior
