Job Requirements

  • Possess U.S. citizenship or U.S. National status
  • Be at least 18 years of age at time of application
  • Register for Selective Service if applicable
  • Pass structured interviews, drug screening, medical evaluation, and background investigation
  • Be available for various shifts and overtime
  • Proficient in English language skills
  • Able to travel occasionally for training
  • Meet physical requirements including ability to lift 50 pounds and stand for prolonged periods
  • Understand and comply with uniform and grooming standards
  • Consent to TSA sharing application within DHS
  • Maintain certification and fitness throughout employment

Job Qualifications

  • At least one year of full-time work experience in the security industry, aviation screening, or as an X-ray technician
  • Or a high school diploma or GED or equivalent
  • Ability to meet physical demands including lifting and standing for prolonged periods
  • Proficiency in English including reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension
  • Ability to work various shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Willingness to undergo required background checks and drug screenings
  • Ability to travel occasionally for training

Job Duties

  • Operating screening equipment to identify dangerous objects in baggage and on passengers
  • Performing physical searches and baggage screening including lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Controlling terminal entry and exit points
  • Interacting with the public by providing directions and responding to inquiries
  • Maintaining focus in a noisy, crowded, and stressful environment to identify potential threats
  • Engaging in continuous development of critical thinking skills to mitigate security risks
  • Retaining and applying knowledge of standard operating procedures and adapting to new information
